Jesuit Connections - St. Louis Past Events
Yoga that integrates Ignatian spirituality, for restoration and rejuvenation.
From the Instructor: "Throughout my childhood and college career, movement through dance was and still is a huge part of my life. I find I am more completely myself when I am moving than when I am doing anything else. I continued to explore movement while at Saint Louis University where I studied Theology and Studio Art. Since graduating, I have been working for a travel company that has allowed me to take time to focus on studying yoga as well. I knew of yoga from my grandmother who has been a regular practitioner for as long as I can remember. Combining my love for movement with my cultural interest in yoga led me to a yoga teacher training where received my RYT-200 hour certificate in Rishikesh, India at the Association for Yoga & Meditation. Finding a strong commonality between the theology I studied on paper, and the meditation I experienced through yoga, makes me excited to bridge these two parts together for this event!" - Erica Prasad
From the Musician: "I am a piano performance major at St. Louis University. I mostly play classical music from a variety of musical eras, but I have a special affinity for Romantic period, especially Chopin and Brahms. Lately I have enjoyed collaborating with string instruments and singers. I have spent the last couple years teaching music lessons at Loyola Academy as a volunteer." - Liam Brown, SJ

Examen Meditation Session
February 28, 2019 Co-sponsored by Ignatian Young Adults A time to pause, breathe deeply and reflect, this Ignatian meditation session combines the structure of the Examen with the healing qualities of meditation. In a busy and often over-stimulating world, this session provides the opportunity to tune back into the body’s messages, as a starting point to quieting the mind, enough to hear God’s voice in our life. Holly Seitz Marchant is a performer, educator, choreographer and co-artistic director, along with David Marchant, of Zo Motion Arts, a site-specific performing duet that seeks to deepen an awareness of nature by highlighting our interrelationship with the environment through ecosomatic practices and performance. Holly teaches dance in St. Louis, MO at Saint Louis University, Maryville University and UUM Preschool where she teaches modern dance, ballet, composition, improvisation, movement for healthcare professionals and creative music and movement. She was a dance company member with Montana Transport Company in Missoula, MT from 2001-03, and Atrek Dance Collective in St. Louis, MO 2003-06. In addition, Holly has studied the Alexander Technique and Deep Listening with Pauline Oliveros. Holly holds an M.F.A in Dance from the University of Arizona. |
